Collage + Assemblage
Collage is really my heart-I guess I say that about all of the media I like to use don’t I- but It really is. It combines all of the things that I love: the surprise of how things once used bring their history and yet shed their old life once added to a piece. How no one truly cares about their past only about their present. Labels, packaging, raincoats, retail bags, clothing, sewing patterns, receipts, buttons, jeans (I cut my jeans a lot), old tee shirts I can’t bear to part with completely, postcards…I’ve used it all. These items vintage, antique or otherwise designated always add a story of their own.
